The bolt pattern plays a key role in the proper fitment of the wheel to the vehicle. It’s a specification to keep in mind whenever you make changes or customizations to rims or wheels. At Stockton Wheel, while customizing wheels for our customers, we’ve noticed a significant number of cars with the 5x100mm lug pattern coming our way. That’s why we want to explain this design to you in today’s article.

What Is The 5×100 Lug Pattern?

The 5x100mm lug pattern (also known as 5×3.94 inches) indicates the stud arrangement on wheels. Specifically, it consists of 5 lug holes spaced in an imaginary circle with a diameter of 100 millimeters or 3.94 inches.

But how do we determine the diameter of the bolt circle? Mechanics at Stockton Wheel or any other auto shops measure the distance between the stud nuts to identify the PCD. When the number of wheel lug bolts is odd, the diameter is determined from the center of a random nut to the outermost edge of the furthest lug nut hole.

What Car Features A 5×100 Bolt Pattern?

The 5x100mm pattern is commonly found on various car models, such as Audi, Chevrolet Buick, Chrysler, or Daihatsu. Refer to the table below for a comprehensive list of vehicles.

FAQs

Are 5×114.3 And 5×100 The Same?

No, these stock bolt patterns are different. The 5×114.3 indicates that the wheel has five bolt holes spaced 114.3 millimeters apart. In comparison, the distance between two opposite lugs of the 5×100 is 100 millimeters.

Can You Convert 5×100 To 5×112?

You can do so with the help of 1-inch (25mm) wheel adapters, but based on our rich experience in the wheel industry, it poses a potential risk when swapping the two.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that the 5×100 pattern is very common on cars. Hence, car owners find it easier to customize or upgrade their wheels for aesthetic or productivity purposes. However, Stockton Wheel recommends considering other aspects, such as rim diameter, offset, center bore, etc., to achieve optimal fitment. Consult with experienced professionals if you don’t know where to start.
